I got a ride from Frankie and Linc to Carson Pass to hike a 32 mile section of the trail to Ebbetts pass. We fished in the morning in the Kennedy Meadows area but did not get a bite. It was very hot today, which often makes fishing difficult.

I started hiking at 1:15 from Sonora Pass at 9655 foot level. The trail went up from there for about three miles to 10,500 feet before it started a six miles downhill into the headwaters of the East Fork Carson River. The hike up was beautiful as there were many flowers and spectacular views.

Looking Back toward Sonora Pass

As I started down toward the East Carson I had this nice view of Wolf Creek Lake.

I soon entered the Wilderness.

I camped near the river among a half dozen PCT Through Hikers. I talked to a couple from Australia who had started at the border. I am of course having altitude issues and am having trouble eating. I think I overdid the heat and sun while fishing earlier in the day. Dude sounds like a broken record.

I hiked 9 miles today, PCT Mile 1017 – 1026. I have hiked 87 PCT miles total.
